This observation from Ira Glass is excellent. Be sure to watch the video till the point where he plays a tape from his early years. I honestly didn’t pick up on why it was bad, but he broke it down and explained. It was an excellent illustration on two levels - his taste is far more refined that mine when it comes to radio broadcasting, and it can sometimes take years to perfect your skills.
