Oh What A Nasty Day

Thursday, January 30th, 2003

Tis a nasty day out. Wet. Cold. What more could you want? I need a break from programming … oh how it drags on. I think my sugar high from last night is wear off. I was at Tylers till late hours of the evening working on a project of his that is due … ahem … Saturday :) Either he or I managed to kill his OOPic so I had to go back and get mine. Tempermental things they are. But, on the good side we had lots of Milanos, chocolate chip cookies, and best of all Mountain Dew.

It was the perfect weather to render the absense of a defroster in my car an issue. “Friends don’t let friends drive with fog.”

Stupid physics is beating me … oh the bruises … then theory beats me … every day of the week I get beat … and then I have PE on Mon. and Wed. and get BEAT MORE!

I’m soo cool … don’t ya know? Let hear it! “William is SO Cool.” Feel free to comment on this awesome post!

Gah … back to programming.

Four Day Weekend!!!

Friday, January 17th, 2003

Well folks, thank to our man MLK Jr. I get a four day weekend. However, I kinda like to think of it as commerating Robert E. Lee’s birthday (Jan. 19th). Now, of course, I’m not racist, but the dude was awesome. He stood up for what he believed in (no, not slavery … ), nor do I go around school proclaiming it. But, really, two days to celebrate MLK Jr.?? … that’s a bit much IMHO.

So, you may ask what I’ll be doing in my free time …. Well, I’ll tell you.
Frankly, I don’t know. I know that I’ll be working on Physics homework and I’ll be writing a cannon with four part harmony in the ground bass. I’ll also probably do some stuff on my website.

Today in physics we shot projectiles at a stuff animal. It missed. Trying to prove a point I belive. Not sure what though …

Pepsi Mist

Tuesday, January 14th, 2003

Pepsi’s new drink is called “Pepsi Mist”. They were in the brickyard today handing the stuff out. It tastes just like Sprite or 7-Up … probably the same forumla. Anyways, the folks left about 11 and left all the stuff in the brick yard for the taking. So, I walk into the library and there are all these folks with six packs of the stuff sitting beside them. I found it rather humorous. College kids and free stuff again … now, where’s one I can swipe?

For java class I have to have a recent picture of me on my site. Another reason I want to place out ;) So here it is, fairly recent. This summer. I’m at the top. The better looking of the two below me is Alyssa and the freak at the bottom is James … The pillow’s name is Wilton. Poor guy … got thrown all around by Jamie … traumatized for life he is.

First day o’ classes

Thursday, January 9th, 2003

Well, today was the first day of school. Ugh. It wasn’t too bad actually. My math prof., who I though was going to be a foreigner turned out to be an American (good). Econ. is looking pretty good – I like econ. Music theory will be tough. But, I really like the Prof. She’s pretty cool. It also turns out that the scary guy who’s previously appeared on the shudder-o-meter is in there too …. shiver … this is the one with the long black hair and long fingernails. Freak out. Strangely enough, there’s more guys than girls in the class (a lot more), and it’s a pretty small class. Should be fun.

Tomorrow I get to see what Physics and … ugh … Java 2 will be like. I’m really hoping to place out of java 2 though.

Last night our Bible study group went witnessing in a nearby mall. It was a good time. We prayed and worshiped for about an hour at Steve’s place then we went over to Cary Towne Center and talked to folks. My preferred method was to go up to folks and say “Hi, we’re taking a one or two minute informal religious survey. Would you like to participate?” Most of the “old folks” said no. We talked to 4 folks, we didn’t have much time as the mall was closing. Two of them seemed to be committed Christians. One guy said “I got to church but I’m not a Christian” (gotta wonder why …). We talked to one dude and his girlfriend. Apparently she was religious and we kinda had him in a hard spot so he bailed out …

Nobody comitted their life to Christ, but I think we planted some seeds, and it was really good just to do it.

My site, is now fully live … for most folks. The DNS servers take 24 – 72 hrs to propogate. Please fell free to try it out and break it – and let me know. It’s definitely a work in progress.

party is over

Wednesday, January 8th, 2003

Well, it looks like the party is over and it’s back to the grind. I start school tomorrow. I’ve been frantically working on the latest version of GoRobotics.net (check it out, it should be up) and I think it’s finally finally finished. After tons of works (last summer and all of Christmas break) it’s all working and happy-like. Best of all it’s in a DB and I can make changes much easier.

Class lineup for this semester includes Physics, Music Theory 2, Vocal Techniques, Calculus 3, Microecon., PE (shudder), and Java 2. 19 hours. I’m really hoping to place out of the Java 2 class cause I really don’t need to take it.
